How do you make sweet tea with brown sugar?

I hear that you can make sweet tea with brown sugar instead of white, and it's supposed to taste really good.
I tried making it one time, but I think I put too much brown sugar in it and it tasted really bad.
How much brown sugar are you supposed to use compared to white sugar? Half as much? 3/4 as much?

It depends entirely on how much tea you're making and how sweet you prefer it. I've never heard of making sweet tea with brown sugar - is it possible that whoever told you that meant an unrefined sugar instead of brown?

If you did for sure mean brown sugar, use a light brown instead of dark brown (dark has a more molasses-y flavour that I can't see complementing iced tea very well).

Honey is an excellent sweetener for tea. With honey, brown sugar, or white sugar, the key is to sweeten the tea while it's still hot and THEN cool it down. Sweeteners don't dissolve well in cold liquids and will probably just settle on the bottom of the container. As for how much, it depends on how far south you live... ;]

Sweeten to taste is the best advice I can give you. Stir some sweetener into your hot tea (pot, cup, however much you're making) and taste it. Go slowly, though - it's much easier to add more sweetener than to try to dilute your tea.
